Romania: New trading price limits for green certificates

Through Order no. 8/08.02.2017, the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) approved the price limits for trading in green certificates and the value of each green certificate not purchased by economic operators with a mandatory annual quota of green certificate purchases.

Consequently, as of 13 February 2017, the price limits for trading in green certificates are as follows:

  • minimum value: RON 133.0611 (EUR 29.4559) per green certificate
  • maximum value: RON 271.0624 (EUR 60.0054) per green certificate.

Value of each green certificate

The value of each green certificate not purchased by economic operators with a mandatory annual quota of green certificate purchases is now as follows:

  • RON 539.4450 (EUR 119.7702) for every green certificate not purchased during 2016
  • RON 542.1198 (EUR 119.7702) for every green certificate not purchased during 2017.

While these new values do not represent a significant change compared with the past, for comparison, in 2016 the minimum trading value was RON 132.4045 per green certificate and the maximum value RON 269.7247.
